Rent Stabilized/Controlled
how can i find out if a building is rent controlled or stabilized?

FYI, a building of 6 units or more may be subject to rent stabilization; an individual apartment with a long-term tenant may subject to rent control, but only for that tenant or his/her immediate family. If you're moving to a new place, you'll be dealing with rent stabilization.

Individual apartments, not entire buildings, are rent controled or stabilized.
I'm pretty sure there's a form you can file with the DHCR that will give you the rental history on a particular apartment.

you can call DHCR (311) to determine if the building is in the system. if it's not listed, it's clear.
If it is listed, then you have to investigate more to see if the apts are still subject to regs.
