Record of Change in C of O?
Hi, I am wondering whether DOB will have any record for the permit of conversion in my house? I suspect that the 2nd story floor i am living in is being illegally converted into 2 SROs. Can i find out the permit in the DOB website ? If there is no permit or record in the DOB, does that mean the 2nd story-floor is being illegally converted ?
please help, thank you

Go to the website below, input your address and borough and look for the link to the C of O near the top....

Also check for any outstanding permits and violations.

A permit is definitely required in this situation, and one should be posted on the front of your building somewhere. I've found the easiest way to check for permits/violations is through propertyshark.com. (You can get all the info you need from one of their free accounts.)
Regarding your question about 2 means of egress: access to the roof does not count. I'm not familiar with the requirements for a three-story house, but I can say with some certainty that there should be a fire escape. Other posters may have more information.

Generally there does not need to be a fire escape if there is a sprinkler system. I'm not sure if that regulation applies to your structure.
Does your building have a sprinkler?
And if I'm not mistaken the egress requirement can be satisfied with a door and window.

thank you for everyone's comments, they are very helpful.thank you all.
here is my problem.
1. The 3 story house has no fire escapes, no sprinkles, i am afraid of the any fire emergency if it happened unluckily.
2. i just check on the above link PROPERTYSHARK.COM, and i found out the house is a S2 class house, since the first floor is for business, and the website say that the house only has 2 RES UNITS. In fact, the house has 4 familys living on the 2nd and 3rd floors, the 2nd and 3rd floors have been converted into 4 SROs, 2 SROs per floor, is that illegal?
3.regarding the question 2, i am pretty concerning about the permit of the conversion on the 2nd and 3rd floors. because i found out from propertyshark which says that the house only has 2 RES UNITS, but that is 4 familys living on the 2nd and 3rd floors now. Should i call 311 to make sure that whether the house is being converted on the law authentication?

absolutely, call. And not just DOB complaint but fire department complaint.

Think carefully before you call anyone about this situation. Given the lack of fire escapes alone, it may trigger a vacate order. I believe there's free legal advice to be had through Brooklyn Legal Services or possibly at Housing Court. Alternatively, if you know a good landlord/tenant lawyer, I'd talk to him/her.
