Painting Tile
Has anyone heard of a paint you can use on tile? I am considering doing this in a rental property. Has anyone used this product? How did it turn out?
Thanks

Painted tile looks like painted tile = looks bad.
Don't do it!

I'd check with the landord first. If you did this in my rental you'd lose most all of your security deposit.

When we bought our house part of the original tile in our bathroom was painted with pink [presumably] oil-based enamel. It held up very well; it also looked like s**t. It wasn't too hard to strip off and the tile underneath was perfect.

I am the landlord, so no worries there. But it sounds like it's a bad idea, so I'll just have to replace the tile.
Thanks for the advice

what kind of tile you want to do? those little bathroom ones might look bad painted. maybe just need new grout?
But, yes, can paint...using an expoxy or urethane paint.
Am planning to do on unglazed 4x4" tiles in a room soon.
Using a neutral flat finish and several rugs.

I was thinking of doing the same thing on my terra cotta tiles. Love their shape and texture, hate the color. I did some tests and they came out great, I jsut haven't decided on a color yet. But ceramic might be different than terra cotta. I did actually see ceramic tiles painted a rich, unusual colored enamel in a hip little shop Reykyavik, Iceland, and it looked incredible. The fun thing about painted tile is that there's this consistency of color throughout, because everything -- including the grout -- is painted the same color. All you see is the shapes of the tiles, texture etc...and none of that ugly grid that discolored grout creates. Anyway, just a thought.

Do it. And then be ready to lower the rent.
I can think of few things that scream "dump" louder than painted tile.

I agree with Pete - if you're going to do it (and you need to do it), use a very neutral color.
However, my overriding thought is that there is a reason they make tiles in different colors...
