Door Rehab and Steps

I want to have my huge wooden front doors stripped, repaired and stained. I was referred to Tamer - who came, gave me an estimate, then never followed up.
I also would like to have my stoop's concrete steps replaced and metal work painted - and would like to know if anyone can recommend someone to do this work.

You're looking at at least 3 different trades. Check through the archives - lots of recommendations for all of that kind of work.

Not quite clear here... if Tamer came and gave an estimate, aren't you the one to do the follow up?

For stripping and refinishing try either Park Slope paint strippers:

They both refinished doors for me and I was happy with the results of both (haven't had any stoop work done yet so I can't make any recs for that type of work).

I did not feel it necessary to give the entire history. I accepted Tamer's quote. He said he was working on something else but would be able to start soon. When I did not hear from him for a couple of weeks I called his office and was told he was 'anxious' to do the work and would get in touch with me soon. That was the last contact. I liked him very much and he seemed passionate about the work he does, but if there is this much delay before the job is started - for what may be valid reasons, but without contacting me - I am weary starting the job with him.

i highly recommend Z. abedin for the steps. You can find his number on another post (I don't have it handy). Great work. Great price. Tell him Chris from Decatur street referred you.

For door stripping,repair and stain I would recommend Joe Salem who has done done a lot of work for me.
