Living on block w/ Abortion Ctr
I saw a home for sale on 43rd st between 3/4 ave. There is also the abortion center on the corner of 43rd and 3rd. I want your opinion about living on this block. Are the protests daily? Do they bother those living on the block? I just want your thought on living on a block where theres an abortion center on the corner. INPUTS WANTED :)

I don't think that sort of thing happens so much in ny. Even if it did, I seriously doubt that protesters would be allowed to bother residents.

Your best bet is to talk to the staff at the clinic itself. Protests are not at all uncommon in NYC. I have friends who in the early 1990s provided escort service for both clinic workers and clients to protect them from very militant protesters. But I can't imagine there are daily protests, or anything near it. Anyway the staff should be able to enlighten you. Or the the local police precinct. It's a free country but those who advocate for women's health care also believe we should stand up to those who would deny women their legal right to choose.

You also should be conmcerned about living near any churches that have loud Sunday services and where the streets are clogged with double parked cars.

I have personal story with this clinic. I took a friend there many years ago in college (yes it was a friend). They told us to arrive at 5 am for the proceedure and couldn't beleive my eyes when there werePro Life elderly protesters out front handing out liturature. It was a dark and cold January morning. They weren't loud. Just present.
On another note I saw a pro choice rally there on my way to costco a few months ago. They were super loud. Dancing and drums, etc. But it was the middle of the afternoon. I would talk to people on the block to see what they think.

I work nearby and I have personally seen protesters there on a few occasions. I think that there are frequently elderly protesters walking outside the building but I don't think that they are very disruptive to the rest of the block. I agree with the above poster and I would speak to people who live on the block and get there take on the situation.

I live about three blocks away, but had no idea there was a clinic there. Between 3rd and 4th I'd be more concerned about noise/pollution from the BQE, but in general I think you'll find that it's a really great neighborhood and the location there is pretty darn ideal.
