LOL. That would be my Mexican bf's mother's food. What kind of Latin food are you interested in?? Hell, I can cook you potatoes if it's Peruvian!!!

Dave, that's great. Give me her number, OK? Ideally, I would like to learn to be a fantastic cook of all kinds of wonderful Caribbean dishes (Puerto Rican would be best) but I'll settle for good take out until I get it together.

If you're ever in LIC, Queens, and you want a very good homestyle meal, try Las Vegas (Dominican restaurant) at 21st St. & 44th Drive. Crowded and very noisy at night, catering to neighborhood workers and locals. Two blocks further down 44th Drive (just past 11th St.) is La Vuelta, an upscale pan-Latin place: http://www.lavueltabistro.com/

Donatella, in Sunset Park, on 3rd Avenue at around 53rd St (a block from Lutheran Hospital) is Mr. Juliu's Cuban Restaurant. The ambiance is a bit tacky but the food is excellent. We usually take-out as we live 5 mins. away.

That's good to know. Thanks Rick.

One more. I have only had pollo al horno from this restaurant—and only as takeout at a friend's home. It was delicious: Delicias del Caribe, 234 4th Ave., near Union St. http://www.allmenus.com/ny/new-york/20287-delicias-del-caribe/menu/

Thanks
