Inspector Unable to Gain Access?
i just filed a compliant about the house that i am living in but when i check on the DOB, it says that the INSPECTOR UNABLE TO GAIN ACCESS. Just wondering what is the DOB going to do if they keep getting unable to gain access. Will they cancel the complaint just because they tried few times and get no access?

You should really consider offing yourself.

Filing a complaint to the DOB about the house you live in is "offing yourself".
They will try two times and if no access they will post LS-4 legal notice telling the building owner that they must call to make an appointment... which ain't gonna happ'n. The complaint will not disappear from the record.

What's the problem anyway???

Why are you complaining to the DOB about the house you are living in?
Are you the owner or a tenant? perhaps they are the wrong department to complain to.

stnzz- all of your posts seem to be about problems in your rental. It seems like you are trying to build some odd case against your landlord. According to a previous post you are leaving the rental, so just leave and stop complaining.

complaint may still be on record but no violation is on record.

If the complaint was that important to you, why weren't you there to let the inspector in yourself?

You're THAT TENANT. Always looking for something to get a rent decrease. If you're unhappy with the location then MOVE. Stop nitpicking. You inspected the place before moving in correct? You checked out the area before moving in correct? Quit your bitching and move.

Even I would not defend this tenant's actions!

Wow, tough crowd! Particularly given that no one seems to know what the problem is. This tenant could indeed be "that tenant", but it could just as easily be a truly shitty landlord.

Complaining does not = offing yourself.
But in reference to this poster it almost certainly does.
He/she is leaving the rental do to whatever circumstance. But right before they leave, it seems they're intent is to get the one up on their landlord.
That's their story. Personally i feel its some douche looking for a plea to skip rent.

Complaint's are closed if an inspector cannot gain access after two attempts, unless they are "A" complaints (hazardous).
Call 311 again and have the rep put in your ringer # so the inspector can gain access from you. Of course, you are sticking your neck out if the landlord is savvy enough to check DOB BIS.
So it's that bad you can't work it out with the landlord?

Complaint is now closed even thought that is "A" priority one.

So you're not going to tell us what you are complaining abou????
makes you look like the jerk.

DIBS, if you click on his handle, you can see several of his previous posts which gives a nice recap of his life in this home. Best I can tell, he does pay rent, is not looking for a free ride, but is moving and looking to make sure the horrible conditions don't continue.
3 story house, illegal tenancy issues right and left, including up to 11 people shoved onto one floor. Water damage, tremendous holes in ceilings that let rats and bugs in. And most important in my opinion, with dozens of people living here and no dry wall between floors in spots making for a huge fire hazard, there is no fire escape AND no sprinkler system.
So really people? He's "THAT tenant"? And how would you feel about it if half a dozen children were killed there at Christmas time due to a space heater or christmas tree fire because no one could get out, it was fast moving and there were no sprinklers?

Good god! What neighborhood is this in? I hope no harm comes to any of the tenants.

Noklissa, you forget, this is a landlord site :-)

sounds like rent reduction is the goal, but...
if he is the "good" tenant, call HPD, get a fire inspector to come over RIGHT AWAY (emergency) and take a look at the absent sprinkler in the public h/w and absent 2nd means of egress.

Be careful what you wish for. It does seem like there are some hazardous issues but do you want all the other tenants homeless??? The overcrowding is a separate issue.

The best route would be to first work with the landlord. See if they are willing to make the necessary changes to accommodate him and bring the building to code. Just from looking at the historical posts, it seems like everything is an issue (which may be legitimate).

Vagrant rhetoric at its finest.
The 'victim has apparently been unhappy for sometime or approx. one month, the time since first choosing to undertake the condemnation of his residence.
After reading his posts in their entirety. I find him/her to be deceptive, ill versed, and feeble.
You've obviously had a problem with said landlord. Yet instead of acting you've chosen to bombard the thread with constant imagery in search of pity?
If your really out to help others in that building- get off your arm chair and do something.
POST flicks of the conditions- address etc. I'm sure that will at the least suffice the pallet of those with the means to act accordingly.
just saying..

the complaint is that 3 story house has no second mean of exit
Posted by: stnzz at July 23, 2009 2:03 AM
its not a big deal , right ?
in case of fire, those who is living on the 3rd floor should jump off the window?
Posted by: stnzz at July 23, 2009 2:06 AM
i guess that is it.
i am out and that is not my business anymore.
ps.thanks for all the posts.
