barbecuing in prospect park

Does anyone know where the best place to barbecue in prospect park is? Is there a time you need to get to the barbecues by in order to ensure that you get one for the day? thanks for the day.

There are designated areas in the park to bbq and you can find them on the park website.

Near the bandshell is a popular place. I know from living near the park that hundreds of people bbq in the summer. On the 4th of July people often arrive as early as 8am to get a spot It is actually quite amazing to see people lugging bbqs, tables, and enormous coolers. So, I guess, get there early.

Near Parkside and Ocean Ave is another and it may be easier to get a spot. The earlier you get there the better indeed.

I would highly recommend getting a permit $25 from the parks department. If you dont have one, they will fine you (sometimes not always inforced, but lately they have been cracking down) $150.00. The best place is the entrance at 15th street , lots of benches. You usually get the permit that day if you go to the administration department inside the park. it is the best advise.
