2 means of egress?
hi everyone
would anyone tell me what can be the '2 means of egress'? Does the access to the roof count as one egress?
b/c i am living in a 3 story-house,and the 2nd and 3rd floors are being converted into 2 SROs in each floor, and i found out that the whole 3 story-house does not even have a fire escape.
please help, thank you for reading

You can check with the City and teh Fire Dept. but you have to have either a fire escape or sprinklers and 2 means of egress from the building. I think it used to be 2 means of egress from your apartment but I do believe that includes a window with a fire escape. If you have a sprinkler system which extends into each apartment, you don't also have to have a fire escape. My apartment has a sprinkler system and 2 doors to the common hallway.

"Two SROs per floor" sounds like two studio apts per floor. Big difference. Will each have its own bathroom?

only 1 door to the hallway, no fire escape, no sprinkler system , should i call some departments ? DOB or FDNY
