Rec for DIY woodwork class
I recently took a woodworking class at Makeville Studios (www.makeville.com) and highly recommend it esp. if you are new to power tools. Nice clean workshop and very helpful folks there.
They also have classes in DIY home improvement stuff.

I second your recommendation. I've learned a lot at Makeville, and if you don't have your own tools and shop you can rent studio time there quite reasonably.
