Poison ivy removal?
I am a new owner of a garden coop. When I turned my attention to the garden a few weeks back, I realized that I had some substantial poison ivy vines running through the rose bush, the English Ivy, and woven around and through the deck supports and railings. Can anyone recommend a local landscaper or gardener who would be willing to help tackle this problem or suggest other ways of removing it without also killing the rose bush? Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

how about some garden shears, gloves, and a long sleeved t-shirt?

I agree with Bowl of Dicks... suit up, find the main plant and hack it up. All the vines will eventually die, especially with the warm weather coming. If you can't find the main plant, just start hacking at what you can see/reach. Once it's dead, you can just pull out the dead plants(with gloves, of course)!

Do NOT, under any circumstances, just start hacking. That's a guaranteed method of sending the toxic oils airborne, and spreading them to your own clothes, possibly to your lungs, and onto everything surrounding. Occasionally, Virginia Creeper is mistaken for Poison Ivy. If you've confirmed it's PI, here are a couple of links describing how to handle:

I'd add protective glasses/face gear. It's the resin that causes the rash & it can spray.

You'll have to get the root to actually kill it. Just cutting the vine above the ground won't get rid of it. Try vinex. I've heard it is one of the few poisons that will actually kill poison ivy.
