Pocket door

Pocket door

I have 2 pocket doors on the parlor floor that need repairing. They don't open or close easily. I bought what I hope is the appropriate hardware on the recommendation of a contractor who no longer seems interested in doing the job. Can anyone help with this?

is that new construction?... if it is he may not allowed enough tolerance for them to pass through the wall ..when open, is there a full 1/8 inch on each side of the door?..if there is , your slider just needs to be tuned...since i assume that you have something out of the dave sanders catalog..http://www.davesanders.com/catalogdownload/sect12.pdf
the hangers probaly have to be tightened up in that case

I believe that I see a track on the floor. The part that rides on the track is called a sheave. Oftentimes the axle or the wheel is broken inside the sheave. You can examine this be rolling the door beyond the half-way-point and lifting then tilting the door out of the jamb. Use a vacuum to clean the track inside the pocket (as plaster debris often falls off the inside of the lathe) and look for friction, such as bx that may be rubbing against the doors.

If the door has warped along the bottom rail, it will never stay straight on the track.

What hardware did you buy?
Is it Johnson Hardware and if so what part number?
These doors can be fixed to operate better than new with top rollers, however the walls will need to be opened to install the track.
May be an option, tho not the only option.
