Old Faucet Fix?

Our bathroom faucet has a clip, not a washer, that has deteriorated, so that the faucet leaks. The fixture is an old one, there when we bought the co-op, and we don't know the brand name. My husband tried to find the clip at two plumbing supply stores, on Union St. and on 3rd Ave., with no luck; he's told it's not made anymore. It is similar to a cotter pin in shape. Any ideas where we can find this so as not to have to spend $100 on a new fixture? Thanks.

Moen uses a clip, but you're not going to be able to find one. Do yourself a favor, buy a new faucet and take your time installing it yourself.

Did you try Park Slope plumbing? Also an old-style hardware store across from the Key Food on 5th near Sterling often has really old stuff.

New York Replacement Parts - upper eastside in Manhattan - they have (had?) everything

Try Alfano Plumbing in Queens. They have every old part in Queens coops from the teens onward, and are likely to have yours. If not, they can suggest a workaround. They will also newly machine any old part, and they are cheap. They are really great.

Bring in the old assembly to them.
