Drywall removal-blown insulation
I need to replace some moldy drywall. Basically I plan to cut away about 3-4' from the floor and replace with new drywall. Maybe even use the wall to run some new copper water pipes.
Dilema: Beneath the drywall is some nice thick blown in insulation, which I want to preserve. I don't want a mess of removing it and the cost with replacing it.
I just want to remove the old drywall and put in the new stuff. Suggestions? Websites? How to?

Gravity is such a bitch! No way around it, you will have some mess, but you may be able to hold some of the insulation back with some plastic sheeting and a staple gun once you remove the moldy drywall. Good luck.

just do not even consider sweating pipes near this stuff...your house will burn down in an instant

Also to consider is that if your sheetrock is moldy, what do you think's going on with the blown in insulation. If it's cellulose or other natural insulation, I'd bet it's a bit moldy, too. Best to get rid of it all.

That's the trade off with blown in. When you get the rock down replace the blown in with fiberglass. It's a small price to pay for not dealing with the aggravation of trying to put blown in back by hand. Insulation is pretty cheap.
