Co-op stock cert name change.

Do we need a lawyer to change a name on our co-op stock certificate? Has anyone done this with or without a lawyer, if with a lawyer what are the costs? Thanks.

Yes, I did need a lawyer. Also, if you have a mortgage, you may need to have the same names on the mortgage as well. I had to get a new mortgage when I did this, also has to be approved by the board, etc. This was my experience, but check with your co-op, their rules may be different.

Pretty sure you need a lawyer for this. I have some contacts if you are interested, email me for their info: esegal(at)primerica.com

j_banks, check with your management company. They might have a lawyer on staff to do the work. I am not sure if you need to get your own.

I've added a name to the co-op certificate before and taken another name out and that action didn't need a lawyer, just a payment to the management fee and the board approval.
