Air Conditioner & Window Bars
Will appreciate product information or source for an air conditioner that will fit between my window and the security bars on my groundfloor brownstone - Landmarks issue prevents changing bars.

I don't remember having too much of a problem picking up a small unit. Of course, I don't remember WHERE I got one, but I know I needed it immediately because it got really hot suddenly. Just call a few places first. I think Home Depot even carries them.

This unit was only one inch deep? Because that's about all that will fit with the original Victorian bars. They are flush with the window.

You could use one of those in-the-room things. They need to have a hose out the window is all. They're expensive and not terribly effective, but certainly better than nothing.

Actually, the indoor units have gotten much cheaper and supposedly more efficient (no more feeling like you're a nurse, emptying pans of water every 30 mins.) so shop around.
