Stackable washer/dryer

Any recommendations for a reasonably priced, reliable, stackable washer/dryer? I've looked at old forum posts & tried Gardenweb Appliance Forum - all out of date. Replaceing a Whirlpool bought new in 2001 for a tenant. 8 years strikes me as not very good.
Thanks

Kenmore makes a very good set. You can use them side-by-side or stack dryer on washer.

I have a set of the Maytag Neptune ones. Stackable or side by side (I've used them in both configurations), front loading, high capacity. They are amazing. Expensive, but amazing.

Check out PC Richards. They have a good selection and usually pretty solid prices. I buy all my appliances there.

When I was researching machines, I read that Kenmore and Whirlpool are the same, only Kenmore is serviced (poorly) by Sears. So if you were unimpressed by Whirlpool, you might not like Kenmore. I typoed "whirlpoop" twice!

Interesting about Whirlpool/Kenmore - thanks.
Appliance guys say 8 to 10 years is average now. My own units are 25 & still going strong. Thanks for input.

Frigidaire front loader can be stacked. I have two, one 7 years and 1 2 years old. No problems. About $1000 for both.

I guess I am a Kenmore die-hard, but then my parents used to order ALL my clothes from the Sears catalog, too!

I have a 20-year-old Kenmore dryer still working the way it did the day I bought it. I own not one but two utterly reliable washers, one top loader, one front loader (the stackable.) Front loader is, of course, much more energy and water efficient and gentler on the clothes. I have never had a problem getting Sears to service them, either when I lived in Bklyn or now, in the burbs.

Kenmores are reasonably priced, too, about $500 for the stackable washer, if I remember right.
