Reluctantly Selling Chandelier
My wife and I bought this Schonbek crystal chandelier only two years ago. Unfortunately, we are moving and the new apartment does not have room for the large table shown in the picture (also for sale -- Pottery Barn Conrad dining table originally $1600 asking $1100 and matching Queen Anne dining chairs originally $1600, asking $1100). We're going to have to go with a small round table in the new place and the chandelier just won't look right.
We purchased it for $2,500 and are asking $1,500. It is in perfect shape. The sparkling swarovski crystals are stunning during the day and at night. The lights twinkle beautifully over our dining table. Everyone who comes to our home compliments this piece. Since it is so valuable, our inclination was to put it in storage until we have an appropriate place for it, but we are willing to consider selling it to someone who would really enjoy it as much as we have.
Fyi, Design Within Reach has a similiar piece (although not as high quality crystal) going for $2,600 (http://www.dwr.com/product/lighting/cellula+collection/cellula-chandelier-complete-set.do) so this is an exceptional deal.

That's gorgeous. I've been admiring that style for some time now. You might have better luck trying to sell it on Apartment Therapy NY.

This is silly, but are you allowed to take it with you? I thought fixtures (once attached to the wall) are considered part of the apartment.

Fixtures are easy to replace, 11218. As long as you aren't leaving cords dangling, you can certainly put back what the landlord left you before you go and anyone who argues is just being greedy.

Right, Serpentor, but if a probable buyer sees the chandelier, they would reasonably assume that it would come with the apartment. Therefore, any documents have to clearly indicate that the chandelier isn't staying with the apartment, but that's almost as easy as replacing the fixture itself.
