Architect recommendations??/
I am about to renovate a small 4 room apt. and need to open up the space, expanding the current bathroom and kitchen and altering walls etc.If anyone knows an interesting architect who's not too overpriced, I'd love to meet with them. The area is about 800 sq. feet. I'm in Bay Ridge 0n 85th St. Thanks

Interesting and not over priced. Like jumbo shrimp. Oxy...moron.

Not necessarily pig.
Michael McCaw on Stuyveasnt (google him)is very good and reasonable but tends to stay in the neighborhood. He may be a bit swamped right now.
The other problem is that with the rule changes and everything at the DOB last year, most architects are swamped with DOB filings and not real design work which they would rather be doing. I know he has been.

Dave,
I Googled. No examples of his work. Do you have a link?

BTW Dave, are you still in with Butternut? See the sign switch over to your block. What's the 411?

Hi
After years of looking I have found Silvia Benelli. She is not overpriced because she is very fast worker . She gets done in one hour what others take for ever. Very precise. It does help that she is Swiss. Everything was researched before you get to construction. The contractor got the work and never called me once. I repeat NEVER. The job was done at the price I wanted. She is not married to her own style she will do what you want.
Try her out call 212 730 4370

I've had great experiences with James Anzalone, a Park Slope/Gowanus-based architect. He's great with structural analysis and DOB filings & inspections, as well as the creative end of the work. Too many architects have inflated views of their own work, but he's got the engineering as well as the artistic side. And he listens!! He has a website:
www.jamesanzalone.com/
Good luck! I hope it turns out great, regardless of who you use!

Let me recommend a great architect that knows apartment renovations and Bay Ridge very well. Professional, knowledgeable, accurate and creative. Years of experience and a genuinely nice person. A lifesaver at my home on 74th Street in the neighborhood.
