metal roof for shed
we're replacing our rotted storage shed in the yard with a new one my husband plans on building...anyone know where to get some standing seam metal roofing material? has anyone worked with htis before? is this do-able?

Give some thought before you install metal roof. If you've ever heard rain on
AC units, you have some (small) idea of the serenade you're about to create for yourself and neighbors.

vinca makes a real good point...way better to stick w/ a different roofing materials like shingles or shakes

I lived in a house with a metal roof in North Carolina and it made no discernable noise. A lot of older houses, particularly in the south, have metal roofs; doesn't seem to be a problem.

plenty of houses have metal roofs. it's not going to make any crazy noise.

the metal may make noise if it has nothing under it. metal roofs on houses are less likely to make noise because they have insulation,drywall etc under them.
think of a drum... if you stuff something under the drum head it muffles the sound. hollow things things resonate more, making louder sounds when something strikes them.
