note to brownstoner visitors:

i have taken several classes at this shop with the primary instructor (robyn) and it was a great experience each time, so i highly recommend it. i took the table saw class, hand tools class, and routers class (and i believe one other which i'm forgetting).

in terms of convenience and pricing it's probably the best option in south brooklyn -- i have not checked out the shops (for example 3rd ward) in williamsburg/greenpoint/bushwick.

Thanks, Nick! I know you were looking for more advanced instruction so I just wanted to add that we'll soon be offering some classes in traditional furniture making (using hand tools and machines).
These will be six to eight session classes where you go through the entire process--preparing a cutting list, selecting and milling the wood, cutting, joining, assembly and finishing.
Anyone else interested in classes like this?

hc - We will be posting on our site more info on the advanced woodworking class shortly--you might want to join our email list to stay up to date. Just send a note to hello at makeville dot com to that effect and I'll add you.

argentina - most of the classes are geared toward beginners--is that what you mean?
