tree pruning service?
Hi-
I have a spectacular but out of control fruit tree in the yard of our fairly-new place. I think it needs a professional pruning before it'll be in a condition where I can manage it myself. I think it needs a very serious pruning, and I'm afraid I'll go overboard and it'll be all over... Can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced tree pruning service? I have no idea what to expect in terms of cost... Thanks-

I used Family Tree Service. Found them here on brownstoner. They removed a "small" 40' tree. Not sure they would do a job this small.

If its too small he can probably recommend someone else.

Be sure to use an arborist if you want to preserve, rather than remove or kill, your tree. Family Tree might provide that service. Almstead Tree & Shrub Care, 800-427-1900, was recommended at one of the workshops Sustain Landscape runs. I have no personal experience with either of these companies, though Family Tree did a great job removing a neighbor's tree that fell during a storm. I imagine another place to get a recommendation would be through the BBG's gardener's resource center: http://www.bbg.org/abo/contact_grc.html

I constantly see Bill Logan at Urban Arborist 718 522-0612 and Hollis at Prospect Tree 718-871-1354 recommended. I wish I'd used either one of them when I had to remove a large pine tree. Instead I went with the young startup and it was big mistake. All three gave me an identical price quote!
