The Vermeil/133 Sterling Place
Does anyone know what is going on with the Vermeil, at 133 Sterling, in Park Slope/Prospect Heights border? There were a number of apt still available and then they just took it off the market. does anyone know why? Also, does anyone live there and if so, what do you think? Thanks.

Firstly, it's not on the Park Slope/Prospect Heights border. It is most fully in Park Slope on the corner of 7th Avenue and Sterling Place. Prospect Heights starts north of Flatbush Avenue.
I've seen a number of units show up here in the "biggest sales" listings, but I don't know what happened to the remaining units, if there are any. I've noticed lights on, and people do seem to be living there. They did a nice job with the outside of the building for the most part, but still need to work on a few details like the sidewalks and outside lights.
Sometimes the brokers take these things off the market, to then re-list them at lower prices...or perhaps with a different broker. Keep an eye out..I'm guessing they'll pop back up. They were horribly overpriced.

I am wondering, too. The 7th Ave. side is vacant except for 2 apartments, one of which may be a sales office. There appear to be some occupied units on Sterling.
I took a look at the apartments on the corner. Nice space but they made a mistake putting a bedroom right on the corner. The noise from the buses stopping rihgt across the street is quite loud.

It's beyond me why the developer hasn't fixed the cruddy sidewalk yet. Creates such a negative impression of the building. Penny wise and pound foolish.

Yeah, it really looks bad out front on 7th and along Sterling.
And the brokers have, I'm SURE seen multiple comments about it here whenever the building is brought up. They just don't care.
And it's obvious in their lack of sales.

The Vermeil always looks dark to me at night from 7th Ave. Their asking prices started very, very high when they first when on the market back in the day. I bet they turned down one or two offers they wish they had on the table now. This property has been discussed a few times on this site. Nice apartments, good size and apparently well built, but a litte bit outside of Park Slope proper and spooky history (deadly air disaster at this corner many years ago). I don't know what has happened to the listings but have been wondering the same thing myself.

The Vermeil appeared completely dark as of about 8 pm tonight. The former whorehouse on Lincoln appeared to have lots of residents (or at least there were plenty of lights on). The whorehouse came on the market long after The Vermeil and must have sold quickly. I don't know what is going on with The Vermeil. The apartments are actually quite nice. I hope they didn't squander their market opportunity by asking the moon when they came on the market.
