Rent 2009
I am looking for new tenant for an apartment who will be in the market very soon.
How many % did have to reduce from last year or 2 years ago.
Thanks

Rents went up this year on my block off bay ridge. They appear to be holding at their highs.
Bay Ridge is a very stable neighborhood. What you read in the papers seems to be affecting Manhattan and possibly the Manhattan-centric neighborhoods of brownstone brooklyn much more than Bay Ridge.

The OP is in Bushwick, so how is this information about Bay Ridge relevant? Apples and oranges IMO. I can't imagine that any one who'd want to live in Bushwick considering Bay Ridge or vice versa. [I have no ax to grind here--I wouldn't especially want to live in either neighborhood].

Whoops--pre-coffee post--strike "that" from my third sentence.

Simple all the people that were over paying in Carroll Gardens and Park Slope now are moving to Bay Ridge to find lower more affordable rents in comparison to CG and PS. So it is an increase for your area but a decrease for others. But don't worry rents will be coming down in BayRidge also.

Although I will say some of the Brooklyn Heights apts have seen a bit of a drop (just rented one at $1,600 that was $1,800 last month when the tenant left)

What part of Bushwick? Rents in the Wyckoff Heights area appear to be increasing or holding steady. The only other area I've been tracking closely is Bed Stuy right on the Bushwick border at the JMZ Halsey train. Three bedrooms seem to have decreased from $1600 to $1400 in the last two months there.

Christopher, if you got an increase, you must have undercharged last year. We're having to lower rents across the board unless the vacant apartment was previously underpriced.
