Electrical

Cristopher John electrical company came to my apartment for an estimate.

They charged $39.95 for the estimate appointment. when they looked at the job the guy quoted me $4000. I was treated like a tourist.
Meanwhile i live in a small apartment and the work is not complicated. The building is a modern highrise
and the electricity works well. The apartment needed fine tuning in one rioom only.
What gives with this company?

Same for me. I refused to pay the visit fee b/c the lady on the phone told me it would be free. They quoted me $22k to redo my first floor electrical and run a riser to the 2nd floor. Another local guy (but he was a licensed/insured electrician with is own small business) did the job for $4k. Another one quoted me $5k. I think Chris Jon's pricing is highway robbery.

Same here, I refused the visit from Chris John once they told me about the visit fee. I think that's normally a bad sign to begin with.

I recently had them over to look at a job and I told them that since I wasn't told about this $39.95 fee on the phone, I didn't intend to pay it. They proceeded with their inspection anyhow. This is how they attempt to discover "problems" that they then try to scare you into hiring them to fix. It seems to be a scam that people who don't know what they are talking about fall into. Additionally, their quote for the job which in their estimation would have taken them less than 1 day to complete was over $5K. Thats a pretty good payback on less than a days worth of work for 2 guys.

I am looking elsewhere...
