cold air through dryer vent
We get a lot of cold air coming in through our dryer vent. The dryer is located in our cellar, and it vents to the outside through a flexible metallic tube.
Is there a way to properly vent the dryer while also keeping out the cold?
Thanks.

Do you have a vent cap on the outside with a "flap" on it that closes when its not in use??

Check the flap (presumable you have one). The slightest dirt can cause it to stay open a hair, and that's all it takes for a powerful draft. If you don't have a flap, get one installed.

That's funny, I'm replacing a vent cap myself to avoid this problem. Google "dryer vent closure" and you'll find a product made by several manufacturers that's supposed to reduce draftiness and problems with animals and insects entering. They seem to run +-$20. Haven't installed it yet so would be interested if anyone's tried this out.
