Where to get a sink reshaped?

Where to get a sink reshaped?

We have this lovely stainless steel sink that we want to put in our new kitchen. However, it is an undermount sink that we plan on installing as if it were a drop-in.

If it is possible we would like to have the angular corners at the top ground down to match the rounded corners at the bottom.

None of the local machine shops that we asked said that it was within their abilities to do this. So, please point us to whichever metallurgist or magician out there can help us.

Thanks in advance.

I can do it though I may discolor the stainless a bit.

"If it is possible we would like to have the angular corners at the top ground down to match the rounded corners at the bottom."

judging by the photo at left, the angular corner has already been chopped of material, so basically you'd have to round off those angular corners first, and then match the bottom corners to the new curvature at the tops.

I am sorry if this shows up as a second post later, but I posted last night and it did not appear.

ok, I can grind the edges. I am a little afraid of discoloring the stainless. If you would like to talk to me about this and are interested, I may be able to try to get a different wheel that might do finer work at a lower temp and not discolor.

I do a lot of grinding in my work now and over the years -

You will want a grinder used to sharpen fine tools that works at lower speeds. The key may be keeping the metal wet as you grind.

I found a little metal shop that works exclusively with stainless steel. They repaired perfectly(grinding and spot-welding) a broken stainless steel handle on my GE Monogram fridge for $10. The replacement handle would have cost around $400.

As my Chinese was poor, I had to use my hands to describe to the worker in the shop what I wanted. The owner, who showed up later, speaks English.

If you have a car, the shop is close to 3rd Ave on 38th St. right by Costco. It's worth a try. I just love these little metal and marble shops in this area that still think that $10 is a fair price for a simple job.

New York Solar Systems LLC is a Brooklyn Company that specializes in high efficiency heating systems and solar thermal installations for domestic water and space heating. We are not from Chester, N.Y. In Genaro's house we only installed the boiler not the radiant heat.
