Mitigating Cigarette Smoke
I live in a coop. The resident in the apartment beneath mine occassionally smokes cigarettes in his apartment and the smell rises into my apartment. Are there any reasonably measurers that can be taken to prevent cigarette smoke from rising into my apartment?

If you have a fireplace (non-working, of course), and they do too, just ask them to use sheetrock to block that. I did this for a neighbor of mine many years ago.

Cigarette smoke is gross and itʻs poisonous. Thereʻs nothing fascist about not wanting it in your house.

How right you are, Van Buren. It's gross, poisonous, and disgusting. Does my NOT smoking offend anyone? Why should others in the building have to suffer because the neighbor is stupid enough to fill his lungs with smoke?

Look in the coop rules because smoking is likely prohibited in your building. It was in ours. First talk to him one-on-one and let your neighbor know the odors come straight up into your space. He may not even know that. If he isn't responsive and doesn't stop then put in a complaint about the smoking.

It's likely prohibited in the public spaces, but not in the apartments.
