LG Dishwashers
I am writing to ask if anyone has experience with LG dishwashers. We have been looking at Bosch and other high end machines, but are curious how LG as a brand compares (the model we've seen is around $800). We're happy to spend more for the Bosch or Miele, but have been told that the LG is a pretty good substitute. Thanks for your views.

I don't know the LG dishwashers, but you should take your search over to GardenWeb...they have many different forums, including one on appliances, and I'm sure you'll get a wealth of information on the LG dishwashers....

Don't know about LG, but my bosch is either a piece of crap or I'm doing something terribly wrong. The miele I use at one of my jobs is really good, though.

Thank you both.

My experience with a Bosh dishwasher has been very good. IMO it's vastly better than the Kitchenaid we had previously (and that Kitchenaid was from BEFORE that company started making crap).

Consumer Reports has this to sayabout model#LG LDF9810[ST ] :
CR's Take
Overall, this is a very good dishwasher. It offers excellent wash performance, very good energy efficiency and quiet operation. It uses less water than most.
Highs
This model offers excellent wash performance, very good energy efficiency and quiet operation. It uses less water than most.
Lows
The cycle time is longer than most. And at $1,500, it's expensive.
I don't own one so can't say anything good or bad. LG seems to be making very good products.

Sorry, this is probably the one closer to $800 model #LG WM0642H[W]:
CR's Take
Overall, this is a very good front-loader that is very good at washing, energy- and water-efficient, and especially gentle. But it performed poorly for vibration and has a long wash cycle. It is backed by a 1-year warranty.
Highs
In the cotton/normal cycle, wash performance was very good. The machine was especially energy- and water-efficient and gentle. It has a digital readout showing cycle time remaining.
Lows
Vibration was poor, a great concern only if you'll place the washer on a standard wood-framed floor rather than in a basement. This model had a cycle time of 95 minutes. It is not stackable.

I have a really nice Maytag set front loading washer/dryer.
"bout $2k for the pair. Stackable or side-by-side use.
They fit a ton, wash and very well, and have been extremely reliable. We thought about the LG's when we were looking and the Maytag had better reviews, stats, and was slightly cheaper.
If I can think of the model #s I'll post them, otherwise I'll do it when I get home...

Sorry--total brain fart. Not why I went back and looked up W/D units.....

I have a Bosch dishwasher that has been great. My dishes always come out clean and it has a range of settings. I've never had an LG.

I have a boring whirlpool dishwasher for 12 years. It even came with 2 different color panels. the flatware holder is in the door to give more room for dishes.
It still works well.
They come in 18 inch and 24 inch size.

Bosch users... most of the time my glasses on the top shelf come out with dried crumbs and crusty stuff in or on them. It drives me NUTS. I have rinse aid, use only the power wash because anything else ends up even worse... is there something obvious i might be doing wrong? I'm not sticking in plates covered in crap, either. It's not a cheap model - all buttons on the inside, nothing on the front. I'm too lazy and irritated with it to look up the model. I think this machine and I need to go to counseling....

I own two bosch dishwashers, and just recently bought an asko. I really prefer the asko, so I recommend you check it out.

We have a Bosch from P.C. Richards for $500 or $600 from a year ago, works fine. We bought the warranty, just in case. Sometimes there is that dried stuff on the dishes mentioned above, but not enough to really bother me.

I got a Miele G841 in 1999 and it really is a workhorse. Also super quiet. No repairs. They have that neat upper flatwear tray and good wash options controlling temp. but they are pricey. Buy the best you can afford.

i love my electrolux dishwasher.
i thought the 'blue light' to tell you the cycle had ended was a dumb idea..... until i heard (or rather didn't hear) how quiet it actually is.
highly reccomended.

We have a Bosch dishwasher that came with the house when we bought it. Its real quiet and has always worked great. We have just moved our kitchen up to the parlor floor as part of a gut renovation (new Miele) and no longer need the Bosch. Its one of their basic models, white w/ss inside I'm thinking SHU43xx. If you'd like to look at it let me know and I won't bother to post it to craigslist yet. I'm just looking for any reasonable offer. It can't be more than 4 or 5 years old. We have the paperwork from the previous owner so I'll look at it when I get home.
