good places to leave books/items

good places to leave books/items

what are some good areas to leave books and random stuff for people to take? i live in apt building and i guess i can just leave it out in a box like some people do but just wondering if stores get mad if you leave it out in front of them.

thanks!

I really don't like it when peple leave stuff on our fence or sidewalk because I have to clean up after them. If you can't do it at your house I'd suggest donating it to Goodwill or Salvation Army.

well i want to get rid of crap and simplify my life. like that family in the picture who sold their 2 million dollar brownstone and live on the beach now. i thought it was pretty obvious. and yes i do believe they are waiting to phone home.

the Brooklyn public library takes book donations too. There are some restrictions on what they'll except - no old textbooks, etc. - rules are on their website.

I like the photo. There's a Unitarian church in Park Slope having a book sale tomorrow. Another possible donation venue.

Maybe this doesn't work depending on how your building is set up, but I am able to get rid of pretty much anything by just leaving it on the sidewalk and putting a "free" sign on it. I mean, I've put stuff out there that is basically garbage and it's gone withing minutes. I once put out an entire dresser - one that was literally falling apart in all kinds of obvious ways - and within minutes some random guy literally has it strapped TO HIS BICYCLE and is taking it away.
