contractor feedback
Anyone have any experience with Nick from Transcend Construction. I just want to make sure before I start a new project that I have someone who will do good work for reasonable fees and finish what he starts in a timely fashion. Any feedback would be most appreciated. Thanks

Not first hand, so take it for what it's worth--Nick is very well-respected in our Windsor Terrace neighborhood. Local, honest guy who does good work at a fair price.
We need to do some foundation work, and will definitely use him when the time comes, a decision based entirely on his solid reputation.

We had Nick do work in the rental unit of our brownstone this past fall. We absolutely love him; honest, fair priced, dependable, and really cares about the work he and his crew do.
We are consulting him again for some work this spring.

We've chosen him to restore our front steps and recoat the rear facade. Not starting until warmer weather, but he's always received positive reviews on this site, so I am hopeful that lives up to it

Interesting to see these timely comments about Nick as he is about to start working on my facade as well. Heard many good things about him. I live in the neighborhood as well.

Nick is going to be a busy guy this spring as we are hoping to also use him for some upcoming renovation work. Also, he recently did some work in our rental apt a few weeks ago and he was fantastic from start to finish.

I've posted about Nick a lot of times here, as I can't recommend him highly enough. After having an exhausting, expensive, disappointing experience with a different contractor (who interviewed exceedingly well), and then some really mediocre experiences with other building/service folks, I was SO happy and relieved to have found Nick! He did some major masonry work and smaller-scale interior work for us and we were 110% pleased. Very knowledgable/technical, extremely honest and well-priced, and the best work ethic we've seen. Unlike most other contractors, Nick is on site pretty much every day and he's totally on top of the job. Others, I realized too late, sometimes only show up on day one and on pay day, so if their guys suck, the whole job sucks. Nick's guys are great, too, very hard working and highly skilled. Basically, all of the usual complaints folks have about contractors (dishonest, condescending, untrustworthy, not on site enough, too expensive, always upping the price, taking too long, not finishing the job, etc) do not apply to him.
I know the glowing rec comes off like a sham, but I assure you it's not. Mopar is right, we're all just regular posters here, and we're happy to spread the word about a terrific contractor for a change.

Aw, shucks, guess this means the job I've been saving up for will have to wait while Nick works for everyone else on this site! He's great. I recommended him to a friend after he did some work for us and she has nothing but good things to say about him and is also hoping to hire him this spring. I can only guess the poster above is Nick's wife's ex boyfriend or something....
