Chimney sweep rec?

We heat the house using gas- How often do we need the chimney swept? Can anyone recommend a company for the job? I just got a phone call from a very pushy chimney sweep….
Thanks.

I just used A&A Chimney (718-789-0144) a few weeks ago based off recommendations on Brownstoner. They came on time and swept our chimney which hadn't been cleaned in 4 or 5 years (we just bought the apt) in 30 minutes and left no mess. They charged $125, which seems to be the going rate. Not sure how often you're supposed to clean a chimney, but I'd use them again w/o reservation.

We did an oil to gas conversion 3 years ago. Recently our boiler was tripping off for seemingly no reason, which turned out to be due to a small mountain of chimney debris/dust clogging the exhaust. It's important for those that convert their boilers to clean your chimney yearly as natural gas burns hotter and drier, and dries up mortar and such in your chimney. We used Jacobsen for the sweep...good experience.

We had the same problem as pickles. We used Top Down and it was also $125. They came within an hour of us calling, I would recommend them as well.

I have used a guy named Willy for several years - I don't recall the name of his outfit but his office # is 718-857-0204.

My plumbers recommended him when we first installed a new boiler and ran into trouble because the chimney got clogged up. Now I call Willy annually to clean the chimney just to ensure no problems.
