Anyone have a good tip on getting stains i.e. oil out of brownstone steps

The sooner you clean up, the better. Start by spreading cat litter to absorb what you can. (You can even dump a bag of flour on it if that's all you have available.) Sweep up cat litter, then scrub hard with dish detergent. Depending on results, you can try carburetor cleaner, but that might have potential for damaging the cement.

Cleaners made specifically for concrete are available in hardware stores.
