Abandoned construction sites

Hi!
Living in between multiple sites that now decided it was time to stop working and leaving an empty lot and its wooden fences up. These sites are no subject to squatters, drug abuse etc etc. Well, wondering about any experience in the best approach to get things going on this? Is 311 your only option?

Thanks for any advice,
E

It is actually something good if you are hoping real estate prices go down. If you are a renter hurray. If you are a homeowner to bad.

Keep an eye on the permits to the property, a site abandoned for six months or more should be back filled. Call 311, your Community Board leaders, your City Council member and the Mayors office to get noticed especially if the fence is in disrepair or there is standing water in the foundation/excavation.
