Shoping for ConEd alternatives

subject of saving on energy is brought regularly on this forum. I want to find about about the alternatives to ConEd as electricity producer. There is a large list of alternatives on ConEd website but some have pitfalls. I wonder if anybody has any positive or negative experience with alternative energy producers.

We switched to Coned solutions because they gave us green electricity last year (I supose they're affiliated). But, we've not had any issues at all and don't even notice it. Go to the poweryourway website and there are links to a website that you can use to compare costs, etc., source of electricity (coal/ gas/ wind/ hydroelectric. etc) and then make a choice. I think you can switch back in a month or so if you don't like it.

We switched to Con Ed Green energy and our bill went up 2x.
It was nice idea to have 'clean' electricity but too expensive for us right now.

I use Econergy & they've been pretty good over the past few years - my costs are lower than neighbor's in similar house who are just w/ ConEd. ConEd still "delivers" but Econ "supplies".
