Red Hook public housing condo?
I recently heard that the city had plans to turn Red Hook public housing into condos, or to turn maybe a portion of them to condos. Does anyone know anything about this?

These sorts of rumors fly around all the time. Its urban legend at this point. No projects in New York have ever been turned into condos and there are no plans to do anything of the sort. Amazing how many people seem to believe otherwise though.

You heard wrong pal. Red Hook Houses will remain projects for at least another 40 to 50 years.

Yeah, fexleycb. How credulous can you be? Why on earth would NYC, facing a chronic shortage of affordable housing, turn low-income housing projects into market-rate condos? FWIW, though, my friends were told a similar bunch of nonsense (about Gowanus Houses) by a real estate agent who was trying to sell them a property across the street. Nice.
