No rebate chieck. I only got a tax bill for the commercial space. Up again but only about $150 this time instead of the + $4,000 previously. I think the only ones making out on this are paper and envelope suppliers as well as the USPS.

Property tax bill and Rebate check today. Will use the rebate check toward paying the property tax.

Got it yesterday...saving it to pay income tax. I used my stimulus check to pay the property tax. What goes around comes around.

Oh, crap! I forgot to fill out the little form that says that I am not a commercial space so that I can get my tax rebate!

I assume I can call 311 and get that taken care of, right?

aren't the rebates automatic? what little form do you have to fill out to state you're not in a commercial space?

Great, 1 day I get the rebate and then the next day I get a property tax increase bill. An extra $188.

Does one have to apply for this? I bought a place in 2006 and never received one. Does it not apply to co-ops?

Posted by: 11217 at December 31, 2008 11:51 AM

You would not get it as a coop owner.

No rebates for co-ops? I'm surprised I haven't heard that one before. That's really true?

Posted by: lambretta at December 31, 2008 12:02 PM

No co ops get no handouts just like renters don't. Homeowners enjoy it because you are not going to see anymore sypothy checks from the government. But you don't have to worry you can always raise your tenents rents like you have always done.

Hannible, you are the definition of "Bitter Renter" Why is it that every single one of your comments is derogatory and vitrol toward anyone that owns a property. If you dont like your slumlord or crumbling apartment, why dont you just move? Not everyone that owns an apartment or has tenants is evil.

The rebate definitely went to co-op owners, too. But you have to fill out a special form from the Department of Finance website. Unfortunately there is a deadline, which has already passed for this year's check and, given the wrangling that went along with the release of this one, it's not looking so good for next year.

I am not bitter. I am quit happy now but not because homes are getting forclosed but when years ago I was telling real estate brokers and homeowners that rents in Carroll Gardens and Brooklyn Heights were getting out of control people told me it was the market factors and that there was no room in these areas for the poor and elders. Well now that I hear about homeowners waiting for a 400.00 dollar check from the city like it were a manna from the sky. Well you know how it is What goes around comes around right?

Still did not get it. im in sheepshead

yipee. mine showed up today!

Rebate check and delayed property tax bill together. The increase in my property tax for the year pretty much cancels out the rebate. Oh well.

I bought a condo off of Smith St in March, have not yet received a rebate. I did get something from NYC Finance claiming my mortgage company owed an additional $392 in taxes, not sure what that was.

Who do I call to find out if I should be getting such a rebate???
