Grand Prospect Hall

Have you guys gone out to the Grand Prospect for the New Year's Eve celebration before?

It looks tempting but I have never been there.

There is a five meal menue, open bar, all for 175.00 a person.

Although the place is very beautiful, the food is not very good. I've been to several weddings there and a while back ago they opened one of there rooms as a daily restaurant.

Can you suggest any place for new year's eve than. I'm trying to finally get out and there is nothing interesting out there and I refuse to go to the city.

Going out on New Year's Eve is for amateurs. Stay home and invite friends over.

Are you looking for a dance/party - or simply a festive place to have a great meal? We opt for the latter, and have been going to Rose Water on Union. They offer a 5 course delicious meal (under $100), wine pairings (+$40?), then we walk on up to Prospect Park (Garfield entrance) and watch the fireworks with much of Brooklyn. Great evening at a fraction of the usual cost. Many restaurants along 5th Ave and 7th Ave offer special NY's Eve dinners.

There are some Brooklyn restaurant suggestions at Chowhound: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/353258
I'm sure there are many other restaurants hosting New Year's Eve parties/dinners so why not call a favorite, or one you've always wanted to try? Though not my style, it wouldn't surprise me if the Marriott was hosting something:

thanks parkslopemom.
dave I don't think it is for amateurs. I have planty of friends over for birthdays, christmas, thanksgiving et al but New Years sould be more fun than that. Besides few years ago I did go to one of the dance party's like that and it was so much fun. You should try it
