Funny photo from rental listing

I couldn't believe the photos with this Park Slope rental listing. Are there people sleeping in that bed?

I have been smiling all morning imagining the real estate agent tip-toeing around the apartment taking pictures while the current occupants were sleeping.

this is hilarious. whatever lurks beneath those sheets, it's quite a photo.

HA! when i moved from chelsea my landlord who was in london had us have an open house for him. well we didnt realize like 5000 people would come and 500 brokers all taking pictures. i check craigslist like an hour later and there were all these broker listings and what was in one? a picture of our bedroom with my dog chained to the radiator pole snarling at the camera! one this for a rent by OWNER only so i was sending nasty replies to brokers... i wound up getting an email back from someone saying "you stop haranguging my employees". i told him to go F himself and that his "employees" were taunting my dog hahahah. i have to go and find that picture.

Rob,

Very funny. You have to put "no brokers" in the ad twice. They don't believe you if it is only once (we usually put "absolutely no brokers" just to be clear).

I have actually been shown property where people were sleeping in the apartments. Usually in the middle of the day. It really felt creepy going through peoples apartments with them sleeping/hiding under the covers.

I've been looking for at houses lately and seen lots of (unattractive) half-naked residents going about their lives.

When I was looking for apts a long time ago, this was a scene I came across more times than I would have expected. Then it kind of became a surprise when I did NOT see someone crashed out on a futon/couch/dingy mattress on floor, usually surrounded by a variety of bongs and occasional baggies of product. It became sort of a game for me "Find The Stoner".

Isn't there one agency that won't even show pix of bedrooms - I guess this one is the opposite end of the pendulum

Brown Harris Stevens has a policy of not showing bedrooms, Mimi.

A couple years ago we saw a brownstone in North Park Slope for sale not rent (for $2.5 million at that) in which both tenants in the 2 rental units had refused to leave for the open house. They were hangin' out and hadn't cleaned their messy, run-down apartments. One guy was a middle aged gay man, another guy was a divorced man who had his toddler son for the weekend so the kid was there too. It was so uncomfortable to invade their space. Anybody who bought that place for $2.5 million would surely not keep that house in the same layout, it was so chopped up in a dumb way. These people knew they'd be kicked out by any new owner. During that same time we looked at another house for sale and the tenant in the rental unit had also stayed in her apartment during the open house and was cooking fish giving us all surly looks! Hilarious. It was so smelly.

Back in the day, large breasted female tenants used to parade around in skimpy towels while I changed their light bulbs.

Those were the days.
