Fibertec Fiberglass Windows - WATCH OUT!

Fibertec Fiberglass Windows - WATCH OUT!

I think that fiberglass frame windows are the most efficient way to go. Fiberglass has so many great qualities above wood, vinyl and aluminum.

However, finding a good fiberglass window company is really hard. I chose Fibertec and I regret it.

The quality of the window hardware was really poor. The image shows a lock latch that fell off a lot of the windows. The window springs were not hinged in half of them. Other window frames were not strong enough to support the weight and sagged out.

The windows came unbearably late with no apologies from Fibertech.

When I tried to get some customer service for the many issues I was having with the window hardware they couldn't have cared less. They didn't return my inquiries and when they did they accused me of breaking the windows (the windows came defective, I swear!).

I strongly recommend fiberglass windows but I even more strongly recommend you stay well away from Fibertec.

I don't know how else to put it: THEY SUCK.

Who did you deal with? After reading their email which I will post below, I chose Inline Fiberglass instead. I had no problems. I was worried when they mentioned about windows not made by angels???? Who sells windows like that.

Dear

I certainly understand your concerns about dealing with a company out of your area. However 70% of our product is sold out of province into the U.S and we had a great deal of success in doing so. We have many, many customers who can talk about their experience using our fiberglass windows & door. We do not claim that we are a perfect company and our windows like any other companies are made by humans in a factory and not angels in heaven. We do however stand by our warrantee and service.

We would certainly like to provide you with your windows and I’ll be happy to tell you about our product and how it can help you in the long term. If the product doesn’t fit what you are looking for I’ll point you in the direction of someone who can help you.

Please feel free to call me on the toll free number below.

Sincerely,

Steven Hall

I am looking for a fiberglass window company to represent.

Stay away from these guy's. I am involved in an installation nightmare, their windows leak, there is no after service, they do not return phone calls, they have made my life and my customer's life a complete hell. I have installed all types of windows and have bought from all companies. I would never recommend these windows.

I agree with gennaro. I have never, never, never in my life experienced such horrible customer service. We chose Fibertec as our window and door supplier. We have had nothing but problems. Steven says they stand behind their product but they don't!!! They pretend to help but at the end when the job is still not corrected...correctly, they blame the installer. We had an installer that Fibertec recommended install their product and there were still problems. They don't stand behind their warrantly. I have hired and paid a few professionals who are experienced with this industry and in their expert opinion their product is not the best. I am willing to speak to anyone who needs help finding a window and door supplier. My husband and I are not at all happy and we are pursuing this further. The service and product that Fibertec provides is unacceptable. I have water coming in my house from the doors. There is condensation on my doors. The window frames warped outside and window themselves have drafts coming through.
Please take the time to really research fiberglass suppliers and do your homework.

I am another dissatisfied customer of Fibertec Windows and Doors I purchased a home with about 30 Fibertec casement windows. There is not one room in my house that has a window that works properly. The windows are too heavy for the flimsy mechanisms. They will either not close on the top, or the plastic piece to hold the mechanism in place falls out or breaks. I have been trying to get help since last November and the Fibertec Company will not return my emails or phone calls. When we did speak with someone who said she owned the company, she was extremely rude, argumentative and has a major problem telling the truth. My husband spoke with the President of the company who said to email pics of the windows. I have repeatedly emailed him and he refuses to respond....and this was just to purchase the plastic pieces!! This house was brand new, my husband and I were the first to live here (no children living with us). We moved in about five years ago. I really don't know what to do because I can't afford to replace the windows and every room has at least one window that is broke.
Also, because the windows were not made in the USA, their dimensions are different so if I want to put up inside mounted shades, they have to be custom made. I would love to report this company but was told because they are not in the US they can't be sued. If anyone has an idea, I would appreciate it.

It is amazing how similar my experience is to the above comments. Right down to dealing with the same people! I ordered my windows nine months ago and they have still done nothing to fix them. They keep accusing my installation. And in other conversations they will admit the windows were built badly. BUT, they say, I have to reinstall them to their satisfaction before they will fix the manufacturer's defects. The installation and defects are totally unrelated: the locks are broken due to bad manufacturing and a different installation won't change a thing. I believe it is just a tactic of theirs to discourage me and make me go away. I have found my dealings with Fibertech to be very unpleasant. In my experience they are not honest and purposefully draw things out in the hope you will just fix the things yourself. In my opinion based on my experience with them they are a horrible company and should be avoided at all costs. Save yourself the headache and spend the money on a vacation. Either way you won't get good windows but at least you'll be relaxed, something you definitely won't get dealing with them.
PS. They are now threatening to sue me for my posts against them. Meanwhile I'm still waiting for them to fix the windows....Any smart company would realize the posts and the window fixing are directly related. Fix windows = good posts. Don't fix windows = bad posts. No amount of legal action is going to change that simple rule of business in the internet age.

Grace,Linyer and Gennaro

Just wondering how things turned out? What about the BBB?

Bernie12,
My experience with Fibertech isn't resolved yet. I posted here and on my blog how crappy I thought their quality and service was. Apparently it hurt their business. They were very interested in me after that, although it was more about getting me to remove the blogs than anything else. A year later and they have still not compensated me for their horrible service. I am still not happy with the windows. My girlfriend can't open or close them. I have to do it for her. Fibertech blames it on the installer. But the frames are so weak they bend really easily IMO. They chip easily too.
