Drapes / Curtains

Hi,

I was hopping that someone could recommend an affordable / reliable manufacturer of window drapes / curtains. We have oversize floor-to-ceiling windows, so we would require drapes that are longer than the standard issue.

Thanks.

The online only outfits are hands down the cheapest. I've order blinds online before without incident, but I can't remember the specific vendor. You can even specify the manufacturer, so you know you're getting exactly what you want.

If you don't want to install them yourself, you can always hire a handyman to do it for you.

not cheap, but very good and reliable:
harry zarin on grand street (manhattan).

The Silk Trading Company at ABC while not cheap often has really good sales on drapes and they have extra long lengths. I hate to say it but IKEA has some very cheap and decent drapes up to 118" in velvet, linen and silk.

I ditto the Ikea recommendation. Some surprisingly nice choices in 118" at very affordable prices.

I've also purchased drapes and curtains at Ikea and they have held up very well. The velvet ones I bought are not lined though; the lace ones I got there cost more to shorten than the amount I paid for them. I have drapes from halfpricdrapes.com which are quite elegant and are lined; they have not faded in the sun either which can happen. Country Curtains is reasonably priced.

i've installed many shades and drapes ordered from online places and Ikea . i'm blanking on the name of the most recent website shades i installed. email me and i'll get you the name.

the key is to follow the measuring directions on the website. several times i've showed up to install shades and they don't fit.

thx, eric.
