Just fyi, you are looking for "bullnose" tiles. It's hard to tell from the picture if they are "full bullnose" (turn 90 degrees) or "half bullnose" (turn 45 degrees).

And for the love of God, stay AWAY from Kaleidoscope Tile on W 15TH St.

And don't forget American Restoration Tile in Arkansas if you need to have existing tile perfectly reproduced down to the crazing. They are very nice and they deal with mail order. You send them a piece of old tile. Prices are reasonable -- $3 to $8 per tile.

apparently it's something called a mudcap (i guess bullnose is solid and mudcap has space at the back).

thanks John at Canco's for that info.

Unfortuantely...they dont stock mudcaps...... next?

I'm pretty sure I saw some mud caps like that at Bergen Tile on Flatbush Ave but I think they recently moved. You could google for their phone number and find out the new location. Their service is appalling but you might want to try them anyway since they're local and you can physically go to the store to match the piece.

Classic Tile just replied to my email - in stock $1.50 a piece.

will be grabbing a good book and catching the subway out on thursday to pick some up.

Thanks for the tip.

There is a tile store up on 116th in Manhattan that I found matching tile to mine from 1940... Florida Tile. Check the back of your tile and see if there is any info. Good luck!

I carefully removed four bathrooms of these (and pink and white tile) and donated to "build it green NYC". I don't know if they are still there but worth a call to them? They are the old ones from the 40s
