View vs. Square footage??

Considering an apartment in the downtown brooklyn area and was wondering if a corner apartment with a view was a better buy than a corner apartment without a fantastic view but slightly bigger (60 square feet). Also the apartment with the view is about $10,000 higher in the same building. Any advice?

You won't notice 60 square feet (all else being equal), but you'll notice the view. And so will your guests. Go for the view.

Definitely the view. Will be easier to sell too.

Real Estate Agent: But madam, the view!

Skeptical buyer: Yes, it's Brooklyn, I've seen it.

NY Times Real estate section did a piece not too long ago on the value of views. You'll never miss the extra 60 SF, because an expansive view makes a place feel bigger than it is. I had a place with a killer view once. People were too atonished to notice anything else.

I guess it all depends where the 60sf is (kitchen or bath vs living room)and the overall size of the apt..but all things being equal and only a 10k price difference, I'd go with the view hands down.

Yep, view. I'd even go so far as to say that views trump just about every other "extra" in New York, save perhaps a washer/dryer...

I'd go for the view, but only if I had reasonable hope that the view wouldn't one day be completely blocked by a new building (which isn't a current threat, but could be one day).

i'd take size and air conditioning over view, but not just 60 sq feet.
