Property Tax Rebate
Anyone get their $400 rebate check yet? Last year it was early October, this year no sign of it yet. and it will be the last one, I know.

Yeah, canceled for next fiscal year, but should have been mailed for this year.

I agree jawbreaker, but it appears that our rebate for last fiscal year is being forgone as well. Surprised this isnt bigger news. But as with most "Rebate" tax reform, they choose this option because it is much easier to say "No rebate this year sorry" than "We are raising your property tax" which is essentially what is happening.

We received a rebate check for $65, not $400 as in past years.

I guess you're right, nss. Thanks.

The $65 must have been NY State STAR rebate.
The $400. has been cancelled foth this year.
This is why we want him for another term ?? NOT!!

Divide $400 by your gross income... what % are we talking about here?
I am a HUGE supporter of demanding value and accountability for the government programs and services, but this whining about tax rates makes me angry. You seem to whine about how much money (however little) you get to keep rather than demanding the city, state, federal gov't makes better use of the money they are given.
If you can increase the effectiveness/efficiency/impact of the gov't by $400, then you can keep "your" $400. If not, hush.

^ i don't think people should hush about something they were told they were going to receive. this was all over the news last night btw.

My complaint is not about the $400 it is about the fact that my property taxes have more than doubled since 2000 and now there is talk about another 7%.
We have low property taxes Because we pay a local income tax.
Continuing to raise property taxes will cause people to sell and leave the city.

Included with the STAR Rebate I received last week was a notice stating the tax rebate has been delayed until November. What makes you think it has been canceled?
