making friends with people in luxury condos

im a pretty social person and always wind up meeting new fun interesting people throughout my perambulations around the city... but i have YET to meet anyone who lives in a luxury condo (not talking about a luxury renovated brownstone, or regular walk up building..) im talking like high in the sky luxury living with tons of amenities and big swimming pools and stuff.

honestly, id like to know, where these people hang out and what kind of stuff they might be into.

i know it's a strange question, but im genuinely inquiring about this. manhattan or brooklyn btw.

They hang out in their own luxury bars. Or maybe they're so strapped from paying their luxury mortgage, they have no more money to go out. So their luxuriate at home.

Many people living in new construction will not be from the area and will focus their socializing on their preexisting ties or people they meet in the neighborhood through the gym or their kid's daycare or whatever.

My experience from living in a large (but not luxury) building is this: If you try to be really friendly and sociable in a large building you will find that it takes up an enormous amount of time because you have so many damn neighbors that you cannot possibly do ANYTHING without running into someone. Therefore, unless you are unemployed and bored to tears, you tend to keep to yourself to avoid being overrun with endless commentary on the weather, gossip, and everyone's health.

But I'm a bit of an introvert and have low tolerance for aimless chit chat...

You meet better people on craigslist.

i've made friends with neighbors in the various large buildings ive lived in... not high rises, but regular apartment buildings. but then again im a bit of a weirdo magnet so it goes both ways. my ex used to hate hate hate that i'd always be hanging out with a new stranger in the building, but i think that's what i love about high density living, the amount of people. i think i'd go absolutely bananas if i lived in the middle of no where.

my point in that rambling... i wanna meet people in luxurious high rise condos!! i want to see first hand what a great view looks like! the view on my roof isnt that bad, but it's only 6 stories high. i want to see what 60 stories high all glass looks like. :-/ that too, not just the view, i wanna know what it's like to look thru a glass wall from the inside out.

wait... i could always try open houses right? that just occurred to me.. during opens houses can you swim in the pools tho? hahah

When I was in school at SAE institute I met a kid who's mother was some Israeli ambassador. They owned a penthouse on 39th and 2nd or something near there in the city. That place was SICK and the best part was that his parents were in Israel all but about 3 weeks a year. I actually moved in there for a little over a year. I loved walking into that elevator and pushing the "PH" button and had everyone look at me. I was 21 at the time and the only people we met at the highrise was some girls who lived in the building and their parents were never home...that was years ago though!...but we lived like kings!

They are too busy collecting $405 a week and calling their realtor to talk to you.

haha.. ok - so this is a message to all apartment owners in luxury highrises

if you meet a pitbull owner named rob, do NOT invite him over to your place. otherwise - get used to seeing alot of him.... eating your food, drinking your scotch, sleeping with your wife (or if you're truly rich with a luxury highrise, your mistress), and swimming in your pool.

beware of rob

RbertMosesJr...you need to do some catching up. rob will soon be going on a date with 11217. I'll let the others fill in the juicy bits.

you know - i knew that. and thought about it right after i posted. oh well.

ok - make changes where appropriate. even luxury homeowners with wives can have secret lives.

Pitbull:
I haven't been spending as much time on this site as before, but I have noticed you are one weird dude. And I detect a, how shall I say it, lack of maturity or maybe even sanity in your posts. Are you intoxicated when you post?
