Dept. of Buildings Form–Designated Manager
Hi:
Can anyone tell me if there are legal obligations for the person designated as a manager for a building on the City's Building information form?
I am an out-of-town landlord, looking to use one of my tenants as the onsite person for this job, but want to know if there are strings attached to it by the city.
Is this a situation where the City just wants to know whom to call in an emergency, or are there potential liabilities for this person if something goes wrong?
Thanks.

Sounds like this would be a "building super", and yes there is a license requirement for supers, one regular & one with a boiler permit with a cert of fitness from the NYFD. Does this help?

It isn't the super position. I do not know if there are any potential liabilities. I think it is more of a person to call in a situation. They never called me. I called them a lot. If the person has agreed to be the go to person- you could always try putting it in writing so that he is not liable.
I live in a co-op and the board members are on there for responisble person, managaing agent. I think it is more for contact information rather than anyting else.
