clinton hill volunteering
Hello,
Can anyone direct me to some local Clinton Hill outreach programs, specifically with children/teens? I'm looking to volunteer on evenings or weekends.
Interestingly, I called Council Member Letitia James' office, who referred me to Community Board 2's office, who said my best bet is brownstoner!!
If this has already been covered here, can you pls direct me to that area?
Many thanks!!

You might try looking for local nonprofits. Check out the Pratt Area Community Council for leads. Through my day job, I know of Fort Greene SNAP (on Myrtle) and Bed Stuy Family Health Center do a lot of community work on maternal/child health stuff. Also, the MOCADA building (80 Arts, or 80 Hanson Place) is chock full of non-profits.

Would someone just kill me now? (I overheard our end of the telephone conversation and the staffer who gave this advice just completed an updated resource directory of organizations in the district! What for? *sigh*) OP, call the community board office again and ask for me personally.

There is a website www.idealist.com that posts volunteer and employment opportunities only for not-for-profits.
