Why I can't post...
This is the reason why you don't see me on the forums..
Comments
I want to post this little diddy. There are going to get more money from you. Bernanke is setting you up...
Bernanke Backs More Stimulus, Citing `Weak' Outlook (Update1)
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=ahK38AjIboDg&refer=home
Lawmakers ``should consider including measures to help improve access to credit by consumers, homebuyers, businesses and other borrowers,'' Bernanke said in testimony to the House Budget Committee. ``Such actions might be particularly effective at promoting economic growth and job creation,'' he said, calling consideration of a stimulus ``appropriate.''
This is so much fun! I bet you think that the crisis is over and the bottom is in, it's only begun..

I can't recall anyone asking why you can't post.
Posted by: daveinbedstuy at October 20, 2008 11:27 AM
Correction: you can't post cause you're a jerk.
Posted by: moreteasir at October 20, 2008 11:27 AM
I think that it has been demonstrated here that if you manage to make your opinions known with at least a baseline level of decency that you will get heard here What. And then your posts have a constructive role for this website. Unfortunately you seem unable or unwilling to commit to having dialogue that does not veer off into personal attacks and insults and limits your ability to have a voice here. It is up to you to participate in a way that fits within general standards of decency.
Posted by: wasder at October 20, 2008 11:35 AM
When you post sick graphics to make fun of suicide, make semi-veiled threats of real violence, and turn the fury of your potty-mouthed invectives on a poster who just wanted some advice on summer covers, you have every reason to expect a little closer supervision on this site.
Posted by: slopefarm at October 20, 2008 11:36 AM
You don't like it, leave. The door is always open on the way out.

Blogs have been around long enough there's no excuse to be so clueless about what's appropriate or what's uncool.
You can't hijack an already well-established privately owned blog to create your own blog posts in a section (Forum) not designated for that. Go get your own blog.
Posted by: traditionalmod at October 20, 2008 2:52 PM
Traditionalmod--good point. The What has enough of a "following" that he probably could justify starting his own blog at this point. And then he would have more leeway in what he could say and who he could insult and we could have our peaceful pages again.
Posted by: wasder at October 20, 2008 2:54 PM
Oy, silly rabbits. I have a little observation.
For every post that What creates in the Forum...silly rabbits hop on over and post on it! So who's to blame now that What only posts in the Forum (correctly or not) and you still hop on over?
That said, I want to hear the end of the story What is telling. Where's the part where the knight in shining armor comes and slays the terrific beast?! Or will I be out on the cheese line instead of sitting in my cube farm? Grilled cheese anyone! ; )
Posted by: cobblehiller at October 20, 2008 3:13 PM
Agreed about the end of the story cobblehiller. Perhaps we should get together and reserve thewhat.org for him?
Posted by: wasder at October 20, 2008 3:29 PM
You know something? You always see the same cast of Asshats going after me, LMMFAO!
Cobblehiller you hit it right on the head! Thankk you.
I know you MoFo's are feeling great after your outdoor circle jerk last week! Now everyone has something to agree with, they hate The What. Let see shall we..
The What has been spot on about the Mutant Real Estate Bubble and the Mutant Asset Bubble and now that you are seeing the effects of the implosion, you can't stand it!
Now since the is a lull in the Doom/Gloom new cycle everyone thinks that "the bottom is in". Nothing could be further from the truth. We are inside the BIG ONE that takes everything down with it and then the will no more refuting that we are in a depression.

What, it's such a disappointment to not get to hear you shit on everyone in every posting on this site (sarcasm). Some of us come here to talk about real estate (since it is a real estate blog). If you want to bitch about the economy, can't you go to Marketwatch.com and start being a pain in their ass? We promise to vote you back into the site if you start talking about how much Park Slope real estate is overpriced and going to fall to earth, like you used to do.

"In addition to setting himself against all the political trends of the twentieth century, Mises combated with equal fervor and eloquence what he considered the disastrous dominant philosophical and methodological trends, in economics and other disciplines. These included positivism, relativism, historicism, polylogism” the idea that each race and gender has its own “logic” and therefore cannot communicate with other groups), and all forms of irrationalism and denial of objective truth."
From mises.org--the think tank based on Ludwig Von Mises theories. Interesting that What, one of the great pushers of polylogism (the idea that each race and gender has its own “logic” and therefore cannot communicate with other groups) on this website should find such inspiration in the works of somebody who was wisely against the notion.
Posted by: wasder at October 20, 2008 4:18 PM
What, I have always granted you have been right. And as they say, a stopped clock is also right twice a day.
"Now since the is a lull in the Doom/Gloom new cycle everyone thinks that "the bottom is in". Nothing could be further from the truth. We are inside the BIG ONE that takes everything down with it and then the will no more refuting that we are in a depression.
Every boom must one day come to an end."
And every bust one day will come to an end. I believe we have seen the bottom, in the equities markets anyway (not the NYC RE market, that will take a year or two, I admit). And I am acting accordingly.
I'll give you another quote. "Don't fight the Fed". And don't argue with Warren Buffet.
But of course what you or i belive is irrelevant, it will be what it will be. And no one knows that for sure.
Posted by: denton at October 20, 2008 4:32 PM
What, you obviously don't read very well. I said in a previous post that I had just closed on a super-super jumbo loan. "Just closed" means that I had a loan closing and walked out with a new mortgage in my hand.
How is the real estate market treating you in Lodi? Prices haven't gone down 40%? I'm sure you are disappointed. No more so than the next person who lives in Lodi, I'm sure.
Posted by: DarkStar at October 20, 2008 6:04 PM
P.S. I hate to be the harbinger of good news What, but credit markets appear to be improving:
You had best find some new type of "Mutant (blank) Bubble" to bitch about since Real Estate in NYC and the stock market still haven't deflated enough to make you right about any of your gloom and doom predictions.
Posted by: DarkStar at October 20, 2008 6:12 PM
Good I have some time to reply to your nonsense.
"P.S. I hate to be the harbinger of good news What, but credit markets appear to be improving:"
Why are they "improving Darkshit? Because the central banks of this planet are printing money, dumbfuck! Globally they have pumped over 6 Trillion dollars (US figures) to prop up the Global Mutant Asset Bubble (GMAB). When this collapses I want a rocket ship off this MoFo!
""Real Estate in NYC and the stock market still haven't deflated enough to make you right about any of your gloom and doom prediction"
I just love dipshits.. Let me ask you one question Darkshit. How long can they keep this up? The answer is not long. See you on the other side....

I agree with what WHAT is writing. Property values will go down but not across the board. I think the prime properties will hold up well. But the rest will get hit. The stock market will have to retest the lows to go back up. I have written in the past that the fed will keep printing money, that is now coming true. I will say this, so is everyone else so it doesn't hurt the dollar at this time. If the fed can reflate and the other countries as well we may see upside potential to around 11800 on the dow. Which will in turn make silver and gold explode. Property values will go up but only if the Fed keeps printing and other countries are willing to keep buying our paper at low rates. Don't know how much longer that will last. MARC FABER ON CNBC , THIS GUY IS BRILLIANT LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAYS

Hey, now you're thinking wasder! Whaddaya say What? I like it! TheWhat.org - gotta admit it has a certain ring to it!

I quite enjoy hearing the What's point of view. Also, what other blog in the world except Brownstoner addresses my three obsessions: The economy, real estate, and preserving and restoring old houses. Crazy.
Posted by: mopar at October 21, 2008 11:26 AM
Maybe The What should have his own public access TV show. Blow Cramer and Alexyss Tylor out of the water.
Posted by: mopar at October 21, 2008 11:28 AM
Public Access! Genius, mopar!
I see easels, papers, charts and folding chairs flying across the screen, I see invectives and mooning the tv camera! I see a large banner in the background - saying -"Listen up Asshats!" and "Some day this war is gonna end!". The sound track could be awesome! Such potential!

Funny, I thought this was a thread about why we don't see the what on the forum anymore. Isn't this part of the forum? We're seeing an awful lot of what on this thread.
Posted by: slopefarm at October 21, 2008 12:00 PM
On second thought, that may be too old school, I think What may need to go hi tech with this. Transparent touch screens like CSI, etc.
Posted by: cobblehiller at October 21, 2008 12:11 PM
I get the above message all the time, even when I try and reply to my own threads! I don't understand especially when what I took a lot of time typing out NEVER gets posted!

This for you Wasder! Polylogism my ass! Asshatogism!!!
History Explained
All of history is easy to explain.
There are those who work, and those who live off the work of others. Those who live off of others, whether we call them “nobility” or “the rich”, try to consolidate their position by becoming ever-richer owners and landlords, collecting interest and rent by mere fact of “ownership”, while eliminating economic possibilities for the lower classes. Societies start out in a state of disorder, where the separation is not clear, and slowly solidify into a state of permanent servants and masters. Then there is a revolution and the whole thing starts over again.
This was true of the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution, the Iranian Revolution, the Communist takeover of China, and on and on. In every case, poor slowly realize that the current laws mean they will forever be slaves paying rent and interest to their rich masters. The poor slowly realize there is truly nothing they can do within the system to improve their lives, and that the only way out is to destroy the current system and make new rules.
A large unhappy underclass increases the chances that outsiders will have spectacular success in an invasion, because most of the population has a motive to help the invaders. The Spanish Conquistadores were greatly helped by unhappy masses who also wanted to overthow the Aztec leaders. The Muslims who invaded Persia were greatly helped by unhappy masses who were exploited by the old Persian aristocracy.
The rich use a variety of justifications to demand that others serve them, most of which can be classified as religious or patriotic. “For God and Country” is the usual claim the rich make on the poor. The rich try to associate themselves with religion, so that any complaint against the unfairness of the system is seen as evil. The rich try to associate themselves with the flag, so that any complaint against the unfairness of the system is seen as treason.
But there are many other kinds of claims, such as “it is my land, so you must pay me rent” (even though the land was stolen at the point of a gun, as in Ireland) or “we are educated and civilized, so we deserve to be the leaders” (even though the poor have no real chance to gain expensive education or manners).
In America these days, people are seduced into getting themselves deeply into debt, the end result being that they become slaves to their interest payments, especially mortgage payments. For those that refuse to overspend, inflation is used to erode the purchasing power of their savings, again forcing them to seek employment as servants to the very rich, their permanent masters. The rich hide behind corporate ownership of stock, but they are there just as they always were, and everyone else is forced to work for them, or live as the homeless do.
Right now, in America, the poor are getting poorer, and the rich are getting much richer, and of course much more religious and patriotic.

What--don't know what to say except that in general principle I agree with much of your article. It is of course overly simplistic/reductionist in its thesis but generally speaking I am more inclined to see the world that way than I am to see the world the way George Bush sees the world for instance. I do think you seem to be confused or deluded as to the wealth status of many on this blog. While there are undoubtedly rich people writing and participating in this board, there are also many who are not and who work very hard for the benefit of others who write and participate on this board. Many people rent, many (like me) are scrambling to put together workable scenarios for homeownership and seem to worry about many of the things you do. This is why it makes you look so silly, rather than prescient, when you reduce whole categories of people to absurd stereotypes.
Biff--the world should be able to come to an end at least one more time before the end of the year so we can have another hang. Perhaps a holiday demise?
Posted by: wasder at October 22, 2008 9:37 AM

Good morning What, You know, this is really why you oughta come out and meet us at one of the events. You and I can have a field day talking about these matters. And I have to 2nd wasder, uhm, I'm a 'bitter renter' over here. Not all of us are 'the landed-gentry'. You've hit on some things here that have been on my mind over the summer and through the conventions. This 'we own it' thing the Republicans are/have been pushing. It was epitomized [is that a word?] at the convention. I really do think that we could have a decent conversation, and you might be surprised.

The "Bail out" shit anit working in fact, things are FUBAR!!! I was listing to Gloomberg radio and every Asshat they interviewed used the word "Recession". They are using that word so freely then things are real bad and no one is denying that anymore.

Ok, I've lost that battle, I give up. I'd love to meet you, but have it your way. I still like the incognito scenario as an option for you.
FUBAR, well, I would agree with you except that, I still have to work (freelance or otherwise), pay my rent & bills, shop for and cook dinner, ride the F train, scrub the toilet and deal with my relatives, so...all in all, things haven't really changed much for me.
And will it all be a bed of roses for you What? or are you going to be on the cheese line with me?

What, this would be the most fabulous television/video/YouTube/whatever ever. Combining economic analysis and, um, graphic illustration of the downside would be ground breaking. I guess entertainment co-optation knows no bounds. I agree with quite a bit of what you say and think you have valuable insight. But me and my boyfriend (I am a woman) will be far away.
