Do you know why? Because I'm calling for the big one within 3 weeks! The Stock Market will have a aneurysm and take everything down with it. Have you notice when the market was having problems last week I wasn't jumping up and down. I know those was the step to the Big Dance.
The idiots in our government has shot off their last load and the whole thing is starting to crack. Just say goodbye to the good times for now. Welcome to the Great Depression 2.

Well, I guess it is time to hang on and do the best we can to make through to the other time. If we do plunge into the Great Depression I can take comfort from the fact that I have great neighbors like you What.

slopefarm, this has become a real moving target. The What clearly called for the end of all of us on October 16. All this planning I've done only to find out we still have more time. But at least it does give us an excuse to party yet again!

Tou did What. You called for it in 30 or 60 or 90 days at one point. You were adamant about it and that date coincided with Oct 16.
BTW The world has not ended for most people.
Please describe or define "the big one" for us so we'll know it when we see it. Don't wiggle out of this. i want to know what it is exactly that we are in for..

Thanks slopefarm. Despite The What thinking tomorrow is all about him, he has never comprehended or at least admitted that we do understand what is happening. But the point of the party is not to laugh at him; it's to meet other (mostly) like minded folks with a love of Brooklyn and a strong interest in real estate. Our lives might change, some unfortunately worse than others, but my point in organizing it was to declare that our lives are not over and we can find the energy and positivity and optimism to get together and enjoy ourselves even during the most difficult of times. I'm sure he'll come back with a "Koombyah" reference, but sadly for him, he's the one missing out on the fun.

Bernanke and other Fed officials have given a dire outlook for the risks to the economy from the recent credit crisis. Just last month, in testimony in favor of a $700 billion Wall Street bailout then pending before Congress, Bernanke warned that the economy faced "grave threats" and its most serious problems in more than 60 years. But he still avoided using the word recession in his prepared remarks.
Yellen also has only used the term recession when referring to the past in her speeches so far this year. The last time she used the term when speaking of current conditions was back in February when she said "I consider it most probable that the U.S. economy will experience slow growth, and not outright recession, in coming quarters."
You see when people start using the word "recession" it's much worse. There is nothing you can do to stop deflation. The deflation monster is destroying all asset classes gold, real estate, nat gas, oil is getting killed. So enjoy yourself, have fun. RIP Mutant Asset Bubble...

As I see it the party is a statement of purpose. If there is a prolonged and severe downturn we are going to need strong communities and social fabric. So for me this party is about connecting with a lot of other people who love Brooklyn as much as I do.
And drinking a martini and several beers.

I have just come out of the shadows of reading these posts to actually posting. This is pure entertainment. To the What: I always thought you were on to something in your predictions and indeed you were. I know nothing about the world of finance but you seem to be a prophetic poet or a poetic prophet.
