Desperately seeking fabric

Now that Su Casa (formerly, The Fabric Alternative) has closed, does anyone know of any place in the Park Slope vicinity (or even the Fort Greene or Cobble Hill areas) that sells fabric? Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bridge St, between Fulton and Willoughby, across from Macy's, used to be fabric row. I think one or two are still left, but neither carry particularly high end goods, if that's what you need.

There are still a few in lower Manhattan, Canal St area, like Jariel and P and Sons. Other than that, there's the Lower East Side or the Garment Center. Little by little, this industry is disappearing from the city, and that is really a shame.

What kind of fabric are you looking for?

Fiber notion is on Union right off of 7th Ave.

Brooklyn Mercantile on 5th Ave. tween 3rd and 4th has wonderful cotton prints and lovely vintage french linens.

I second Fiber notion on Union just below 7th...the owner is very nice--not sure how extensive her selection is...

try baltic bazar on atlantic avenue. The fabrics are beautiful from all the top decorators.

.The prices are dirt cheap because the decorators give donations of their fabric to the charity.

ask for Avrah, she knows everything and has good taste.

I second Brooklyn Mercantile. They have sewing lessons and supplies too.

It's totally worth going into Manhattan for Joe's Fabrics off Orchard. They have a huge selection and are deeply discounted.

Thanks all. (FYI, the fabric is for upholstering a bench seat, chair seat and a foot stool.) I really appreciate the recs.

I second Baltic Bazaar on Atlantic Ave across from Long Island College Hospital. The prices are very cheap.

I thought they closed a year ago? My wife often goes eBay.. (I'll even admit to having a waterproof storage setup (in the basement of our b'stone) for her countless bolts of fabrics)

Harry Zarin on the corner of Grand and Allen, 2nd floor, is my favorite place in lower Manhattan. The prices are better than Joe's, the selection is better, and they are more organized.

It's too bad there's not much left in Brooklyn.
